Turkish Baths date all the way back to the 14th century and inspired by Roman practices in bathing. Baths were a source for both community gathering and hygiene maintenance at the same time.
Because most of people has no shower at their home. Baths (Hamams) were only option for that reason. Then baths were designed to be a local point in city centers and accessible to everyone.
The baths can be related to Islam as a form of cleaning before visiting a mosque for a pray.
That is why they have built most of Turkish Baths close to mosques during the Ottoman Empire. You can find many Hamams (Baths) around mosques.
There are always separate entrances and sections for men and women for all Turkish Baths. If you’re going as a couple or girl, you will meet them outside after having bath.
Women and men are always separate from each other and it is not acceptable in Islam religion as well. Women will make massage for women and men will make massage for the men.
